The Understanding Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) was developed by the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre based in the College of Health and Medicine at the University of Tasmania, with support from Connectivity. This online course is free, easily accessible and available to everyone with an interest in TBI, neuroscience or brain health.

This course aims to raise awareness and build knowledge to reduce risk and improve management and rehabilitation outcomes for people who have experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI). The course is easily accessible and suitable for anyone with a personal or professional interest in learning more about traumatic brain injury.

Traumatic brain injury is often described as a silent epidemic, with up to 69 million cases occurring globally each year. This course looks at the causes and consequences of traumatic brain injury across the spectrum from mild, also known as concussion, through to severe injuries, as well as at how and when injuries may occur across the lifespan.

Understand the injury and help reduce the risk.

A multidisciplinary team from the University of Tasmania, along with guest experts worldwide will offer their expert knowledge on traumatic brain injury.

You should expect to spend approximately 2 hours per week engaging with the content and completing the course activities. You can work through the content at any time of day and at your own pace up until the course closes.

Once you have completed the course, you will be eligible to download a free, personalised certificate of completion. We also offer paid enhanced certificate options in addition to the free certificate.
